Challenges

  • Complicated Access: The bridge's pillars are difficult and dangerous to access due to their height and design.
  • Weather Conditions: Working at high altitude exposes technicians to adverse weather conditions that can change rapidly.
  • Need for Speed and Accuracy: The installation of prisms should be quick to minimize exposure time to risks and accurate to ensure the accuracy of the monitoring data.

Implemented Solutions.

  • Access via Artificial Climbing:
    • Technique Used: Artificial climbing was used with the placement of removable Pulse anchors, allowing safe and controlled access to the pylons.
    • Anchor Specification: Pulse removable anchors were selected for their reliability and ease of installation and removal, minimizing impact on the bridge structure.
  • Rope Rope Installation:
    • From the Upper Area: Rope lines were installed from the top of the pylons, facilitating access to all their faces.
    • Prism location: The prisms were strategically placed a few centimeters from the edge of the pylons to maximize monitoring accuracy.
  • Installation with Impact Gun:
    • Speed and Efficiency: The use of an impact gun allowed a quick and safe placement of the anchors that fix the prisms to the structure.
  • Additional Security Measures:
    • Temporary Horizontal Lifelines: To increase the safety of technicians, temporary horizontal lifelines were installed.
    • Battery descender: Battery descenders were used, making it easier for technicians to climb safely, quickly and comfortably.
