For EASTAV GLOBAL, Sea Survival training, KNOWLEDGE, MEDIA and ATTITUDE are the three fundamental pillars.

At EASTAV we are clear about this and our priority in the module “Sea Survival” from the GWO standard, is to put at the service of our students the knowledge of the professionals and the means they will have in the event of an emergency on the high seas.

We are clear about it

As for the attitude, it is that of each student, but with the knowledge and means that we put at their disposal, the student himself values his own survival abilities and actions that he will be, or will not be able to perform, something indispensable for a positive attitude in the face of adversity.

Statistics tell us that 90% of shipwrecked people die in the first 3 days and that when you reach the life raft you get a 50% chance of surviving the shipwreck, so it is vital and important to adapt training to the means we have and especially to the dangers we are going to face in the offshore environment, because knowledge and the means are what make the third pillar of survival work, “The Attitude”.

To do this, we have to concentrate the most important thing about compulsory maritime training for any sailor, 22-hour training (10 in theory and 12 in internships, STWC Merchant Marine course) on what the GWO standard in Version V16.1 indicates, a 6.5-hour training for offshore wind power workers.

But we must distinguish between the workers on the CTV (Crew Transfer Vessels) and those who are in the SOV (Service Operation Vessels) and work on the safety and means available in the face of the main cause of accidents in offshore wind power, the transfer from the CTV to the WTG (Wind Turbine Generator). And adapt the training to this reality, with a motor boat in which to experience sensations that we are going to encounter on a daily basis and a real marine environment or at most simulated to it.

We believe that we have managed to bring together these three training objectives essential for survival at sea, the KNOWLEDGE provided by our trainers with extensive experience in emergencies and the sea, the MEANS that we have spared no effort to make available to our students and ATTITUDE This is reflected by our students at the end of their training with a positive feedback on their training thanks to the knowledge acquired and the means used in their “Sea Survival GWO” day.
